Dr. James W. Shaver
Dr. James W. Shaver, Landis, N.C., was elected to the Board of Directors effective April 1, 2006. He currently serves on the Audit Committee, Governance Committee, Compensation Committee and the Fraternal Service Fund Committee.
A lifelong Woodmen of the World member, Shaver is a Past President of the North Carolina Jurisdiction and has served on numerous jurisdictional committees. He has served on the boards of the North Carolina Fraternal Congress and the R.C. "Cliff” Payne Youth Camp. He is the recipient of the Mr. Woodman Award, Fraternal Spirit Award and the Meritorious Service Award. He currently serves as Secretary of Lodge 111 in Landis, NC.
Shaver has served on numerous Woodmen of the World national committees, including the Executive Officers Reports Committee, the National Legislative Committee and the National Judiciary Committee.
An amateur magician and history buff, Shaver is also a member of The Travelers Protective Association of America, the Sons of the American Revolution, International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians, American Optometric Association, North Carolina Optometric Society, Piedmont Optometric Society and the North Carolina Zoological Society.
Shaver earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC, and a Doctor of Optometry Degree from The University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston, TX. He is in private Optometric practice in Landis, NC, where he resides.
