News ReleaseDirectors Elected at 46th National Convention August 24, 2009 Omaha, Neb. – The Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society were elected at the Woodmen 46th National Convention, held July 27-29, 2009, at the Hilton Austin Hotel in Austin, Tex. The convention was attended by more than 700 delegates and guests. Woodmen of the World holds its National Convention every four years to report on the fraternal organization’s financial accomplishments and volunteer activities, vote on governance resolutions and conduct other business. The delegates, who were elected earlier this spring at 27 jurisdictional (state) meetings, represent nearly 750,000 members nationwide. Elected at the convention were President and CEO Danny E. Cummins; Executive Vice President, Fraternal Mark D. Theisen; Executive Vice President, Operations and Secretary Pamela J. Hernandez; Executive Vice President, Finance and Treasurer Mark L. Schreier; and Executive Vice President, Field Larry R. King, all of Omaha, Neb. Other directors elected at the convention were Chairman of the Board William C. Owen of Tallahassee, Fla.; Thomas T. Gallion III of Montgomery, Ala.; Betty H. Brown of Shelbyville, Tenn.; Daniel W. Rice III of Kinston, N.C.; Lucia G. Taylor-McCoy of Elkview, W. Va.; Stephen W. Mellor of Memphis, Tenn.; M. Lane Harvey of Mount Vernon, Ill.; Dr. James W. Bosler III of Louisville, Ky.; Dr. James W. Shaver of Landis, N.C.; Roger B. Moore of Lynchburg, Va.; and James W. Bridges, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev. The directors were elected to serve four-year terms, which will expire at the next National Convention in 2013. Woodmen of the World was founded in 1890 as a fraternal benefit organization. Today, Woodmen of the World offers insurance, annuities, mutual funds*, and 529 college savings plans*. Nearly 750,000 Woodmen of the World members across the country share a commitment to family, community and country.
