Woodmen of the World has been helping communities recover from natural disasters for more than a century. From the Galveston, Texas, tidal wave in 1900 to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005, Woodmen of the World members have volunteered their time and donated millions of dollars in food, clothing and supplies.
In 1900, Woodmen of the World members responded to the Galveston tidal wave by donating and distributing more than $13,000 in food and clothing to victims. In 2005, Woodmen of the World and its members contributed more than $4 million in donations, food, cleaning supplies and volunteer hours following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
