JOIN HANDS DAY Saturday, May 2, 2009Held on the first Saturday in May, JOIN HANDS DAY® is an annual event that brings members of all ages together in an effort to connect adults and young people in improving their communities. Woodmen of the World’s adult and youth lodges partner with other volunteer organizations to fix problems while bridging the generation gap. This event is not only great for America’s communities, but it’s a wonderful way for people to reach across generations and work with new friends; a day when individuals form long-term relationships and young people can develop leadership skills that will last them a lifetime. Examples of projects include food drives, picking up litter along roadways, planting flowers at community parks and cemeteries, visiting residents at nursing homes, and helping build new playgrounds. In 2008, Woodmen of the World member lodges conducted 392 JOIN HANDS DAY projects. Join us in 2009 for JOIN HANDS DAY, a national event sponsored by America's fraternal benefit societies. |
