Flags Across America Sunday, June 14, 2009Woodmen of the World members have red, white and blue engrained in their hearts and their communities, and the American flag is a large part of our culture. Flags Across America is just one of the ways members and their families can celebrate, and graciously share, the stars and stripes with their community. Flags Across America is sponsored by the National Flag Foundation and is held annually on Flag Day, June 14. Second only to the United States government in volume of flags purchased each year, Woodmen of the World celebrates and honors the American flag throughout the year. Flag Day is especially important because our nation joins us in our effort to honor the American flag. Woodmen of the World encourages all lodge members to raise the flag at their lodge hall, homes or places of business; say the Pledge of Allegiance with family members, neighbors, co-workers or fellow members; present flags to deserving organizations in the community; present American Patriotic Handbooks for use in school libraries or newly-named American citizens; or plan celebrations centered around the flag. We encourage you to join in a Flags Across America ceremony this year on June 14, 2009. |
