September 11, 2010
Out of the ashes of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks of 2001, Woodmen of the World members rise each year to organize In Honor and Remembrance ceremonies. Held on Sept. 11, these ceremonies honor the heroes and victims of those attacks, as well as local community heroes and volunteers.
Past ceremonies include:
- Presenting an American flag to the town, a civic organization, or to a family affected by the terrorist attacks
- Dedicating a flagpole in a public park
- Planting a garden or tree in a victim or hero’s name
- Commissioning a piece of public art that symbolizes the sorrow and hope associated with the day
- Presenting American Patriot’s Handbooks to newly-naturalized citizens
Join us this year for an
In Honor and Remembrance ceremony.
