Woodmen of the World has been working with young people for more than 100 years. Although the world has changed dramatically during the past century, the basic core of our Youth Program has remained the same: it's all about helping kids grow up to be and do their best. Our Youth Program is about learning civic responsibility; acquiring new skills that develop self-confidence; and helping others in any way possible. And, throughout the program, we emphasize strong family and moral values.

Youth members learn valuable lifelong lessons by participating in lodge activities, which center around:

• Social Skills – Members have opportunities to interact with adults and youth whose way of life may be different than their own.
• Group Participation – Children learn the give and take of a group situation. As a part of the group, a child can learn to express his or her own ideas, and will learn to listen and appreciate the ideas of others.
• Leadership Experience – Woodmen of the World's Youth Program can be a comfortable place for girls and boys to learn the responsibilities of leadership. A youth officer will learn to think of the needs and welfare of the group rather than his or her own needs and wants. Youth members have the opportunity to serve in leadership positions and to learn about the democratic process.
• Community Involvement – Youth can become aware of, and learn to understand, ways of life that are different from their own. Community involvement can emphasize a concern for others and show children how people can work together. Children will realize a sense of duty in serving others in their community.
• Family Structure – Youth lodges are an opportunity for children, siblings, parents, grandparents and relatives to have meaningful interaction with other families and provide strong support for the family unit.
• Individual Growth – Through interaction with others, children have the opportunity to learn about themselves.
