Companies take steps to decrease healthcare expenses, increase productivity

Omaha, Neb.– Woodmen of the World has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company by the American Heart Association's Start! initiative for helping employees eat better and move more.

"Being recognized as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit Friendly Company is a wonderful accomplishment for both Woodmen of the World and the associates," said Sarah Perrings, Wellness Coordinator. "We are committed to continuing to add health education programs for associates to learn more about their health to empower them to start making positive changes. We are thrilled that associates are taking advantage of these opportunities and are making the choice to live healthier lives."

Platinum-level employers:

  • Offer employees physical activity options in the workplace
  • Increase healthy eating options at the worksite
  • Promote a wellness culture in the workplace
  • Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness
